May 31, 2013 Iowa City– Calexico is a small town of less than 40,000 on the border of U.S. and Mexico.  Joey Burns and John Convertino have six studio albums as Calexico. Joey and John brought their seven piece band to the Englert stage on the last day of May 2013. Following Joe Pug’s moving set, Calexico started out strong. The audience quickly began to feel their energy, Southwestern style. Slowly people could not resist and began to dance, often in their seats and eventually in the isles.

I had been listening to Calexico since they toured with Iron and Wine, however this was my first live show.
