Iowa City,Iowa (September 13, 2013) Legendary bluesman Buddy Guy performed at the inaugural Iowa Soul Festival’s free outdoor concert. Buddy Guy’s performance was the first event of the 2013-14 Hancher season.  Guy is a six-time Grammy winner, awarded the National Medal of Arts, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and celebrated at the Kennedy Center Honors.  Seventy-seven year old Guy proved the power of blues as he had 14 year 0ld Quinn Sullivan (opener) join him on stage. Guy and Sullivan traded solos effortlessly as Guy narrated Sullivan’s playing, referencing many great guitarists he himself influenced. Guy was passing the torch to yet another generation of blues guitarists.
